A SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY

This treatment works by relieving the pressure which causes a herniated disc. By using a negative pressure, or reverse pressure, we are able to shrink the size of the disc bulge. Nutrients are also drawn into the disc to help the damaged tissue heal. When the disc herniation shrinks, and it no longer pushes on the nerve exiting the spine, your pain is eliminated.

This process works by:

  • Enlarging the disc space.
  • Reducing bulging and herniated discs.
  • Strengthening outer ligaments to hold disc material in place.
  • Reversing high disc pressures through the application of negative forces.

When pressure builds up inside a disc it causes bulging of the jelly-like disc material that cushions the spine. Increased or prolonged pressure can lead to disc rupture or herniation in which the disc material spills out. The bulging or spilled disc material puts pressure on the nerves and structures that cause pain. This pain can be localized or radiate anywhere the nerves travel to in the body. For instance, pain can start along the buttock and travel down the leg to the toes.

Decompression therapy relieves this pain by creating a vacuum-type effect which reverses
the high pressure found inside damaged discs. This dramatic decrease of pressure in the
disc fosters the drawing in of a bulge and helps take the pressure off a pinched spinal
nerve. Spinal decompression therapy also helps re-supply the disc with nutrients and blood flow which helps heal the disc from the inside out.

Spinal Decompression Therapy applies gentle, intermittent forces
directly to specific spinal vertebrae to help heal unhealthy discs.
